Hyderabad, 22 November 2024: Kabir Tolani, a 12-year-old tennis talent, won his first-ever All India Tennis Association (AITA) title at the prestigious Naweed Sikora Memorial AITA-TS7 U12 tournament held at the Sri Ganesh Raman Tennis Academy in Hyderabad. The final match marked a milestone for Kabir, who has been competing in AITA events since April 2022.

Finals: A Spectacular Comeback

Kabir defeated Vivaan Agarwal of Tamil Nadu in a thrilling final with a scoreline of 7-5, 6-2. The match began with Kabir trailing 0-3 and later 2-4, but his resilience shone through as he clawed his way back to take the first set 7-5. He dominated the second set with ease, sealing the championship with a commanding 6-2 performance.

Road to Victory

Kabir’s journey to the trophy was nothing short of dominant:

• Semifinals (21 Nov): Kabir outplayed Tamil Nadu’s Goutham Viswanathan 6-1, 6-3 to secure his place in the final. It was Kabir’s second semifinal in an AITA tournament and his first win at this stage.
• Quarterfinals (20 Nov): Kabir showed his prowess against Telangana’s Avi Aggarwal, registering a quick 6-1, 6-0 victory.
• Round 2 (19 Nov): Kabir swept past Inay Saraf with a flawless 6-0, 6-0 performance.
